15 December 2008

Luca reaches three weeks today; and what a busy week he had! He has become a regular at the barn now, he had his checkup at the pediatriacians office on tuesday (he has gained a pound), and he had his first bath - which he loves. This weekend Grandpa Haley visited and babysat so I could stretch my restless legs a bit.

Joey brought home a Christmas tree last weekend, which became quite a project to stand and decorate. However, by tuesday we had wrestled the tree into a semi-vertical position and Luca was enjoying the lights. Once again Christmas is exciting- watching the little ones enjoying themselves...

Luca spent lots of quality time with his Decarlo family this Thanksgiving holiday. He inherited his Daddy's good looks.

30 November 2008

Luca is six days old! He is growing far too fast for me; it is both amazing and miserable watching him develop. I am proud to see him becoming a little person yet I am afraid to blink, knowing that I will look one day and he will be a grown boy. They change so rapidly, filling out recognizing faces, voices... Luca can now hold his head up for long moments at a time and last night he reached for my face as I held him. I guess these are the small steps that appear monumental to motherhood.

29 November 2008

Hello Everyone,

This is my first experience with a blog so please bear with me, thank goodness for spell check. After arriving home on Thursday afternoon our new family began the settling phase with a 15 lbs. turkey, lots of carbohydrates, and a few bottles (both the wine and formula varieties). Thankfully Grandma DeCarlo had arrived bearing dinner, supplies, and the knowledge of motherhood. Luca adjusted to his new surroundings like a champion. We have been blessed with a beautiful serene child who loves to sleep, eat, and burp (which most of you know is essential). Likewise, Bella (the pit bull) seems to enjoy her role as big sister. She is a willing companion to most feedings and diaper changes in addition to a full time job working with Daddy at the stable.
Thank you all for your generosity and kind wishes. All of our love, Joey, Amy, and Luca
